Paul Shanley
(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

STUDENT BODY REPRESENTATIVE, IE BUSINESS SCHOOL, MADRID


Having worked for the UK's governing body for music intellectual property, PRS for Music, Paul Shanley has been at the forefront of a number of interesting industry challenges during his career to date.

Through C-level client relationship management responsibilities, he has gained expertise in the media and entertainment industry during a period of rapid development, including areas such as retail, music, publishing, advertising, film, digital media, broadcast and online. As a former manager, Paul has experience leading a team of individuals to hit challenging targets and managing complex change initiatives. He is currently completing his International MBA at IE Business School.

Francesco Marani
(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PRESIDENT, FINANCE CLUB, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR, SAILING CLUB, IE BUSINESS SCHOOL, MADRID


Francesco Marani graduated in Economics from the Universita' degli Studi di Bologna in 2003. He then completed his civil service duty in a primary school providing support to disabled people. Moving to London he worked for a capital market consulting firm, Thomas Murray, where he advised institutional investors, stock exchanges and central banks. Later Francesco moved into investment banking where he worked within a structured derivatives desk for JP Morgan in London during challenging times (Bear Sterns bailout, Lehman collapse, etc). Then, given the negative market conditions, he decided to undertake an MBA.

Francesco is a very active student, who enjoys leading people with common interests, as he does in the IE Finance Club and the IE Sailing Club, always with a goal in mind: to facilitate networking and exchange of know-how, as well as increasing the reputation of his business school.

Yasser Mahmood
(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

FORMER STUDENT DIRECTOR, BPP LAW SCHOOL, LONDON


Yasser Mahmood graduated with a First in Law and went on to secure a scholarship to complete the Bar Vocational Course and was called to the Bar in 2010. Whilst a student, he was a Student Leader at the Inner Temple and Student Director at BPP Law School.

Yasser has worked as a Political Researcher to Professor Nicholas Bourne AM at the National Assembly for Wales and Legal Researcher to Stephen Kamlish QC at Tooks Chambers. He was a member of the Criminal Defence team in the case of R v Dr Mohammed Asha, who was subsequently acquitted (the London and Glasgow Airport bombing conspiracy of June 2007). He has undertaken legal work for the Free Representation Unit. He undertakes pro bono work for a number of NGO's including ‘The Monitoring Group'. Currently, Yasser lectures in Law at IPAG Business School, Nice and is working with Cherie Blair on ‘The Africa Justice Foundation'.

Anneek Choudhury

PRESIDENT, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION CLUB, IE BUSINESS SCHOOL, MADRID


Aneek Choudhury is currently pursuing the international MBA at IE Business School. As the president of the IE Technology and Innovation Club, Aneek strives to showcase the necessity of harnessing technology and innovation for sustainable business growth. Aneek also feels that in today's globalised world diversity is a key strength that can make a difference in an organizations success, consequently he strives to contribute as the Vice-President of the IE Net Impact club. In being the General Secretary of the IE China club Aneek demonstrates an international mindset with a focus on the emerging markets. Prior to his MBA Aneek has experience in ERP implementations in large organizations with a focus on change management. Aneek is also a qualified mechanical engineer.

Scott Doughty
(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PRESIDENT, ECONOMICS SOCIETY, CITY UNIVERSITY, LONDON

Scott has been a student at City University London since 2008. He has been heavily involved in promoting the University and supporting fellow students as a Student Representative, is a member of many societies and most recently became President of the University's Economics Society. Scott will graduate with a Bsc(Hons) Economics in 2011 after which he plans to enter a "Future Leadership" programme within the banking sector, and eventually hopes to study higher level qualifications; in particular he would like to obtain an MBA. Outside of academia Scott enjoys reading about topics related to behavioural economics and psychology, and particularly about issues relating to the effectiveness of performance-based pay.
