JAMES COUNSELL(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PRESIDENT, CAMBRIDGE UNION SOCIETY, CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY, UK

James Counsell is currently in his final year studying for an undergraduate degree in philosophy, at Sidney Sussex College, Cambridge. He is the President of the Cambridge Union Society, the largest student society in the United Kingdom and the oldest debating society in the world. He first became involved with the Union through its schools competition, the largest debating competition in the world, for which he was one of three conveners. His other interests at Cambridge include journalism. He is a frequent contributor to Varsity, the most respected student newspaper in Britain, for which he writes an online blog. His leisure time is occupied by English pubs and games of squash.

JOHN BANCROFT(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

BUSINESS SCHOOL SUBJECT AMBASSADOR LEAD, COVENTRY UNIVERSITY, UK

John Bancroft graduated with a 1^st class honours degree in Business Management from Coventry University. John enjoyed his undergraduate degree immensely, and during that time he combined his own study with working for Coventry University as a subject ambassador, encouraging others to study at the university with which he has such a great relationship. John also spent time as a student mentor, volunteering in local schools and representing the university in hockey.

On completion of his Business Management degree John wasn't ready to leave university so he decided to continue his studies at Coventry University. He is currently enrolled on an MSc in Logistics and a higher education teaching qualification, combining this with teaching some first year classes in the strategy and applied management area of the business department. In his role as Business School Subject Ambassador Lead John is reponsible for selecting, training and leading other Subject Ambassadors. After he has completed his qualifications he hopes to enrol on a PhD in the area of supply chain management. With this knowledge John would like to embark on his ideal career path to become an academic, to lecture and to share his passion for business with those who are craving an education.

STEPHANE JEEGERS(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

MASTER'S STUDENT, CLASS REPRESENTATIVE, SOLVAY BRUSSELS SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND MANAGEMENT, LOCAL COMMITTEE PRESIDENT, AIESEC ULB, BELGIUM

Stephane Jeegers, 23, is currently a last year Master's student at Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management, specializing in International Economics. For 3 years, he has been the class delegate, elected to represent his peers. He also teaches Microeconomics to first-year Bachelor students at the same University. He has been heavily involved in AIESEC activities for 4 years and is the current Local Committee President of AIESEC ULB where he manages a team of 80-100 members. He often takes part in national conferences and international congresses to meet people, share visions and inspirations. He recently joined the "Belgian young Entrepreneurs Unit" (CJEB) which is linked to "le Cercle du Lac".

Stephane has had cross-cultural professional experiences in different sectors and countries. In 2008 he had a summer internship with PwC Belgium in the Marketing Department. In 2009, he worked in Mumbai, the heart of the Indian financial district, for an M&A consulting firm Aarayaa Crossborder Advisors, as a market researcher of the Indian solar industry. After spending 6 months in Madrid for his Erasmus Program at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, he worked as a summer intern consultant on marketing strategies for Yelmo Films. Stephane's ambition is to act sustainably and positively contribute to world issues, to work in a global environment, meet people, understand cultures and constantly search for new challenges. 

RAM KRISHNAN(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

CO-PRESIDENT, FINANCE CLUB, LONDON BUSINESS SCHOOL, UK

Ram Krishnan is currently in his second year completing his Master's in Business Administration at London Business School.  Ram is an active member of the LBS community, serving as co-President of the Finance Club, Social Chair of the Rugby Football Club, and one of three second-year MBAs hired by the Finance Department to run tutorial sessions for the first-year MBA Corporate Finance core curriculum.

Professionally, Ram has pursued a career in financial advisory among independent advisory firms starting with Lazard, Ltd.  Prior to joining LBS he spent three years at Lazard in Chicago working on mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring assignments for middle market clients. While at LBS, Ram spent this past summer as a summer associate working with Moelis & Company in London.  There he worked with the restructuring team on a mandate to explore re-financing options for a major continental European CMBS issuer.  After completing his MBA, Ram will be joining the Moelis & Company office in London as a full-time Associate.

Ram is originally from the United States, hailing from east Tennessee.  He is an avid swimmer.  Ram holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Chicago. 

CHRISTIAN MONTAG(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

VICE PRESIDENT STUDENT GOVERNMENT, SOLVAY BRUSSELS SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT, BELGIUM

Before coming to Belgium to study, Christian lived in Germany, the USA and the Czech Republic. After attaining a Bachelor of Science in European Business and Management, he established United Shops VZW, a non-profit association for small business owners. In addition to the daily business management, Christian was responsible for sales, marketing, and service management. He rapidly expanded the network of members to more than 50 entrepreneurs in the region of Antwerp - thus attaining the first year strategic goals. During the past four years as a management consultant at AMI Consultancy Group, Christian gained experience in the production, finance, and healthcare sectors.

Currently a full time MBA student at the Solvay Brussels School of Economics and Management, Christian continues to manage a consultancy project part time. On this project he implemented a strategy dubbed "inventive insourcing", an alternative approach to cost reduction in stark contrast to the dominant industry trend of outsourcing. The result was one million Euros savings without personnel or salary reductions.

CHESTER MOJAY-SINCLARE(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

ADVISOR, UCL ENTRERENEURS' SOCIETY, UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON AND CEO OF ALIVEANDGIVING.COM, UK

Chester Mojay-Sinclare is the founder and Chief Executive Officer of AliveandGiving.com, a charity comparison and fundraising website that encourages considered charitable giving in the UK. His social enterprise has received external investment and is now partnered with one of the UK's largest social networking firms. He has also recently became the first Undergraduate to win The London Entrepreneurs' Challenge amongst other prestigious awards.

Chester reads Philosophy at University College London where he advises the UCL Entrepreneurs' Society and has established competitions such as 'The Microsoft Assignment', a two-day challenge in which students compete to establish the most profitable business possible in 48 hours.

KOEN HUYBRECHTS(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

TEAM MANAGER, CQS GROEP T RACING TEAM, GROEP T UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, BELGIUM

Having studied Latin-Math and Science-Math at High School, Koen Huybrechts is now a Masters student of engineering at Groep T University College, specialising in electro mechanics. He is the team manager of CQS Groep T Racing team, which has built two ecologic drivetrains and implemented them in two racing Citroën ‘Deux Chevaux'. This is his first of two years in this team of 20 engineering students and he is looking forward to achieving new goals with the team. He welcomes the opportunity it gives him to get in contact with many different kinds of company and to broaden his network.

Besides technology and green innovation Koen is interested in the complex organisation of Belgian politics and the global economy. In his spare time he plays soccer and is also captain of the Latin dance formation 'Aquilatino'. Koen lives in Brecht, a village near Schilde.

HANNES PALM(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PRESIDENT, STUDENT ASSOCIATION, STOCKHOLM SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS

Hannes Palm is the President of the Student Association at the Stockholm School of Economics (SASSE) with responsibility for business planning and strategy, advocating student opinions and representing the students externally, as well as having ultimate responsibility for all operations of the SASSE. His greatest accomplishments in his current position have been the incorporation of a smaller student union in to the SASSE and the launch of a new web portal and communications plan.

Prior to being elected President, Hannes has held positions such as Head of Company Relations and Equality Ombudsman. He also has good working experience from the retail industry and has competed in long jumping at elite level, ranking 1^st in Sweden when eighteen years old. His greatest motivation is the concept of 1+1=3, achieving higher results by working towards a shared goal. Hannes is very outgoing and enjoys extreme sports, travelling and humor. He is fascinated by communications innovation and in the future he's likely to be found within that field.

PRZEMYSLAW GOTFRYD(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

VICE-PRESIDENT, ALTERNATIVE INVESTMENTS CONFERENCE, LONDON SCHOOL OF ECONOMICS AND POLITICAL SCIENCE

Przemyslaw is a second year BSc Economics student and a Caterways Scholar at the LSE. On a daily basis he assumes the responsibilities of the Vice-President at LSE Alternative Investments Conference (www.lseaic.com), working on the fifth edition of the world's largest student run conference on hedge funds and private equity. In his future career, Przemyslaw would like to bridge his two main interests: finance and entrepreneurship.   

Przemyslaw escapes from the city noises while rowing on the Thames for his university. He also enjoys long distance running and took part in the 2010 London Virgin Marathon, fundraising for the Jesuit Missions UK.   Prior to studying at the LSE, Przemyslaw spent two years at Stonyhurst College in England as a United World Colleges scholar. Przemyslaw is a member of the International Young Leaders Network at Blackfriars Hall, Oxford. He speaks English, Polish, German and Spanish, and has an intermediate knowledge of Russian.   

RUTHIE GARELIK(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

DIRECTOR OF SALES AND MARKETING, AIESEC INTERNATIONAL

Ruthie Garelik, 25, is the current Director of Sales and Marketing at AIESEC International. Present in over 110 countries and territories, with a membership base of 50,000 students and recent graduates, and counting with over 4,000 partners globally, AIESEC is the world's largest youth-run organisation. Ruthie currently manages AIESEC's global positioning, business development and account management at the head office, based out of Rotterdam, The Netherlands.  Her responsibilities include managing a 4-person international sales team, development of marketing and positioning strategy, financial tracking, and maintaining active relationships with 20 global companies including Deutsche Post DHL, UBS, Microsoft, Alcatel Lucent, PwC, Unilever, Nike, Facebook, among others.

Ruthie comes from the US and thoroughly enjoys travelling to new places and integrating with the local culture. She received her B.A. in International Development and Spanish Literature in 2007 from the George Washington University in Washington, DC. Since then, she has lived in Ecuador, Colombia, and the Netherlands for 2 years, and travelled to 26 countries. Ruthie is known for her experience in global sales, cross cultural communication, problem solving, high level relationship management, and leadership training, and wants to pursue consulting in leadership development throughout the emerging markets after her time in AIESEC is complete.

HUGO PEREIRA(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PRESIDENT, AIESEC INTERNATIONAL

Hugo Pereira, 25, is the current President of AIESEC International. Present in over 110 countries and territories, more than 1700 universities and holding a membership base of 50,000 students and recent graduates, AIESEC is the worldʼs largest youth run organisation.  Hugo currently manages AIESECʼs global operations and strategy at the head office, based out of Rotterdam, The Netherlands. His responsibilities include managing a 20-person international team, development of strategy, coaching and supporting the leaders of the national offices, overseeing operations and further developing the new midterm vision for AIESEC in 2015. 

Hugo comes from Portugal and thoroughly enjoys travelling and understanding global business trends; he has had the opportunity to visit over 25 countries. As part of global teams for the past 3 years, Hugo has had the incredible opportunity of working with 17 different nationalities. He is known for his experience in strategic development, organisational management, operations and product development, change management and leadership development.  His ambition in life is to be a successful entrepreneur and innovator based out of Portugal; making  a difference to his country by bringing a mentality of achievement and cooperation very much  needed for the economical and wealth growth and stability of the country. He intends to take up graduate-level studies upon the completion of his time with AIESEC to work towards this goal.

BENOIT GAVILLET(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PRESIDENT, MAIN STUDENT ORGANIZATION, AND FACULTY COUNCIL MEMBER, HEC LAUSANNE, SWITZERLAND

Benoît Gavillet, a 3rd year Bachelor student at the Faculty of Business and Economics at the University of Lausanne (HEC Lausanne), is currently serving as President of the main student organization, and was elected to serve on the Faculty Council. In spring 2010, he was the lead organizer for the HEC Lausanne Ball (the main social event of the year).

Benoît has gained work experience through several internships at companies including Philip Morris International, Helsana Insurance, and Ferring Pharmaceuticals. These internships gave him exposure to several different industries and cultural environments. Benoît is also studying entrepreneurship and is working on some new business ventures, such as a new project concerning a joint-propriety vineyard.
He expects to graduate in July 2011, after which he plans to join an audit firm to gain experience in an international environment. After gaining this experience, he plans to work toward a Masters degree in a program outside Switzerland. Outside of school, Benoît enjoys playing squash and downhill skiing. 

ARTOUR SAMSONOV(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PRESIDENT, FOOTBALL CLUB, LONDON BUSINESS SCHOOL

Artour is currently a second-year MBA student at London Business School where he is the President of the Football Club. Before graduate school, he originated and structured non-recourse debt financings for conventional and renewable energy assets across North America at BNP Paribas in New York. The majority of his experience at the bank comes from working with developers, utilities, and private equity clients in the wind power space. Prior to BNP Paribas, he was a member of the Project Finance Group at Moody's Investors Service where he assessed credit risk of infrastructure projects. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from Harvard University in 2002.

Prior to pursuing a career in finance, Artour competed with the U.S. National Rowing Team. He represented the United States at two World Championships and the 2004 Olympic Games, where he led his boat to the 11^th place finish. Although he retired from elite rowing after the Olympics, he still competes in local regattas with a London based rowing club (Molesey Boat Club).

THOMAS STONE(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

CHAIRMAN, ENTERPRISE SOCIETY, UNIVERSITY COLLEGE LONDON AND CO-CHAIR FOR THE NATIONAL CONSORTIUM OF UNIVERSITY ENTREPRENEURS (NACUE)

As well as having being involved with several start-ups at university, Thomas was previously President of UCL Enterprise Society.  UCL Enterprise Society is dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship amongst the research community at University College London, which he continues to support in an advisory role as Chairman. Furthermore, he was recently appointed as Student Advisor and London Network, Co-Chair for the National Consortium of University Entrepreneurs (NACUE), an organisation that supports over 70 student-led enterprise societies with more than 40,000 members at universities across the UK.

Thomas is currently working towards his doctorate at the new UK PhD Centre in Financial Computing. Previously he studied at the University of Birmingham, Cornell University and University College London. His interests lie in the intersection between entrepreneurship and technology, researching the potential use of computational tools for supporting early-stage investment in new ventures.

YANNICK DILLEN(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PhD STUDENT AND VOLUNTARY STAFF MEMBER AT THE UNIVERSITY OF ANTWERP, BELGIUM

Yannick obtained his master's degree in Applied Economic Sciences at the University of Antwerp  in June 2010. He specialized in Finance and International Management. Currently, Yannick is working as a PhD researcher at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Antwerp-Waasland). He holds an ‘IWT-Baekeland mandate' and is therefore also appointed as a voluntary staff member at the University of Antwerp. For the coming four years, Yannick will perform a doctoral study on the determinants and growth incentives of Flemish high-growth SMEs.

ALEXANDRA BOOGERS(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

MEMBER OF THE YOUTH ASSOCIATION OF THE UNITED NATIONS, HASSELT UNIVERSITY, BELGIUM

From the age of 6, Alexandra Boogers knew she wanted to become a doctor. She is currently a third-year medical student at the University of Hasselt, Belgium and would like to specialise in tropical diseases and urgent medicine. Alexandra's secondary school education was at the Jesuit college of Antwerp and she graduated in Greek-Mathematics. At this school, Alexandra was president of the pupil's council and the Oxfam shop. She maintains her good bonds with the school by supporting fifth-year students in their mandatory social projects. Alexandra is on the board of her secondary school Alumni Association, secretary of the Flemish Federation and council member of the Young Wing of the World Union of Jesuit Alumni, which she helped to found.

Every summer Alexandra goes to a third world country (Burundi, India and Haiti so far) to use and develop her medical skills. She's also an active member of the Youth Association of United Nations which organises debates and lectures on today's hot news items such as the Afghan War and the fight against AIDS. In her spare time, Alexandra plays the piano and practises to get her private pilot license. One day, she would love to combine her flying skills with her medical ones.

SVEN LACKINGER(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

CHAIRMAN, IDEALAB!, WHU - OTTO BEISHEIM SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT, GERMANY

Besides his Bachelor studies in Business Administration & Management at the German WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management, Sven is organising the IdeaLab!2010, Germany's biggest founders conference fully organised by students. By the end of October, his team will provide a platform for young entrepreneurs, interested students and successful business angels as well as venture capital investors. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the IdeaLab! aims to support the entrepreneurial spirit in Germany.

After one year in the Austrian Armed Forces in 2009, Sven moved to Germany for his studies. During summer 2010 he worked for a Mergers & Acquisitions consulting firm in Buenos Aires and spent the rest of the time travelling in Latin America. In his spare time, Sven does the public relations for the current project of the WHU student charity organisation: building a kindergarten in Tanzania.

MAARTEN TER BOGT(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

CLASS REPRESENTATIVE, TRAFFIC ENGINEERS, HASSELT UNIVERSITY, BELGIUM

Although a Dutch national, Maarten ter Bogt has spent most of his life in Belgium where he studied at the European School of Brussels. During those six years at the secondary school he was an enthusiastic student who was eager to learn different languages, which allowed him to get in touch with different cultures. At the European School he organized many different types of events and as a fervent traveler he knows how important infrastructure is in a globalised world. Combined with his passion for the aviation industry he is convinced that he will be able to contribute to the world of transport as a traffic engineer.

DANIEL KOHN (International Student Senate 2010-2011)

MBA 2010 CLASS PRESIDENT, ESMT EUROPEAN SCHOOL OF MANAGEMENT AND TECHNOLOGY, BERLIN


After graduation with a bachelor's degree from an international cooperative study program at IBM, Daniel sparked a keen interest in financial management consulting. Hence, he stayed with IBM GBS (formerly PWC Consulting) for five more years as a Finance Transformation Consultant. This experience made him an expert on finance shared services environments and gave him extensive opportunities working in, and leading, international project teams. He hopes to use these skills, supplemented with the knowledge gained during his international MBA at ESMT, to gain an in-house role within an enterprise after graduating in December 2010. Besides being the class president, Daniel is particularly active in the Investment Club of the school.

CELE VAN DEN HAUTE(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

TEAM LEADER CQS GROUP T RACING TEAM, GROUP T UNIVERSITY COLLEGE, BELGIUM

Cele Van den Haute is a master's student of Industrial Sciences Electromechanics and a postgraduate student at the international college GroupT in Leuven, Belgium.  Because of her passion for transportation technology and renewable energy she founded the CQS GroupT racing team with 31 other master's students. The goal of the team is to develop a hybrid and electric drivetrain. These technologies are demonstrated in two race cars; Pegasus, the demonstrator of the hybrid drivetrain and Odyssee, which promotes an electric drivetrain. Last year Cele led the Pegasus team and was also responsible for the hybrid drive train. She was thrilled when Pegasus was placed 3rd in the experimental class of the 24h02' of Spa Francorchamps for 2CV. This year Cele is head of the marketing department for both race cars.

By leading the team Cele wants to create awareness for a green future. This sport is normally associated with performance and excitement, but also with noise and environmental damage. CQS Group T Racing Team wants to prove that the same fun can also be experienced in an ecologically sound way. Finishing both her postgraduate program and a master's degree this year she's looking to enlarge her leadership and management skills by obtaining a place on a master's program abroad.

JENNIFER MILLS (International Student Senate 2010-2011)

CO-EDITOR-IN-CHIEF, THE CAMBRIDGE STUDENT NEWSPAPER, CAMBRIDGE UNIVERSITY, UK

Jennifer Mills is co-Editor-in-Chief of The Cambridge Student, a student newspaper with a weekly print circulation of 10,000. She has completed work placements at the Cambridge News, the Hereford Times, the North Cornwall Advertiser, Wide World Magazine and The Times.

Jennifer is currently in her third year of an English Literature degree at Cambridge University. Before starting her degree, Jennifer spent six months on a youth programme run by Voluntary Service Overseas and the British Council, an exchange between the UK and Indonesia. She has travelled extensively in Central Asia, Mongolia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Senegal and Mali.

LAV MEHTA(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PRESIDENT, STUDENT COUNCIL, BES LA SALLE UNIVERSITY, BARCELONA

Lav Mehta, raised in Mumbai (India), is currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in business administration from BES La Salle University in Barcelona (Spain). Formerly the Treasurer, he is now the President of the BES La Salle Student Council for the academic year 2010-2011. With a keen interest in diplomatic international relations and social entrepreneurship he has been involved in numerous extracurricular activities and initiatives. He assumed the responsibility of the Head Delegate of his university for The National Model United Nations Conference 2010 in New York. Lav has also been a participant in the First Global Sports Conference and Future of Europe Summit IV. At present he is doing an internship in Accenture Consulting and expects to graduate in June 2011.

DENNIS DE ROOVER(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

CHAIR OF THE STUDENT BODY COUNCIL, KATHOLIEKE UNIVERSITEIT LEUVEN, BELGIUM

Dennis De Roover is a master in applied economics, currently pursuing a master's degree in International Business economics. During his career as a students' representative, he was  president of the faculty student body and member of the faculty council. He is still a member of the board of directors of the alumni association, Ekonomika Alumni.

In May 2010, Dennis was elected by his peers to be the chair of the student body council of Leuven (LOKO) and  to be a member of the executive committee and board of directors of the KULeuven. In that capacity he is the vice-president of the Board of Student Services (RvS), coordinator of the staff of the student body council (11 employees) and a member of the general assembly of the National Union of Students in Flanders (VVS). He is currently working to develop a new model for student representation after the integration of academic bachelor courses into Flanders' universities. The social implications of higher education on students in general have always been at the very centre of his endeavors.

RICHARD KAYSER(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

BONN-RHINE-SIEG UNIVERSITY OF APPLIED SCIENCES IN RHEINBACH, GERMANY

Prior to graduate school, Richard has already undertaken a successful entrepreneurial career with a 10-year venture in the fashion industry and has been working in the IT services industry since 2004. Next to his studies, Richard develops the international presence of OxBlue Corporation as Head of International Business. OxBlue is the leading provider of high-resolution visual monitoring for the construction industry. Richard has been with OxBlue since its start-up launch in early 2004 and closely involved in the company's development from a local US start-up towards becoming the prime global monitoring services supplier for most Fortune 100 MNCs. 

Richard is of German/Irish heritage and has lived in Germany, Ireland, UK and the US. Due to his multicultural background he greatly enjoys travelling and intercultural encounters and is a member of the InterNations network.

MAJDA SAVICEVIC(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

CLASS REPRESENTATIVE OF THE FACULTY OF INTERNATIONAL ECONOMICS, FINANCE AND BUSINESS, UNIVERSITY UDG, MONTENEGRO

Majda Savicevic is a senior student at The University UDG - Faculty of International Economics Finance and Business, in Podgorica, Montenegro. With GPA 9,57 she is one of top 10% students. During the studies, she was working in the Montenegrin Investment Promotion Agency (MIPA), as junior assistant project manager, which provided her the ability to leran and to improve communication and negotiations skills. Ms. Savicevic also attended last year Seminar on Foreign Direct Investment Policies in Vienna.  She attended  the Free Market Road Show, an International Conference organized in many Europian capitals (Zagreb, Skoplje, Podgorica, Vienna, Ljubljana, Paris, London) and lectures of many foreign Professors such as: Dan Mitchell, Pierre Garello, Miachael Jager, Gerhard Jandl etc.  Till now the Free Market Road Show was organized two times at UDG . Ms. Savicevic was a participant of the workshop Montenegro towards European Integration, July 2009. Last year in May , she  attended lectures of Jerry Weissman, the world’s number one corporate presentations coach. She had a opportunity to learn from foreign professors and some of them are: Barbara Kolm, Dan Mitchell, Pierre Garello, Miachael Jager, Gerhard Jandl, Oliver Korlet , Pieter Everaers , Jean Claude Baumgarten . She was leading two groups in two semesters during the studies as a part of additional University efforts to improve student skills. Both projects included esay and presentation. She speaks English and Russian.

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE, ANTWERP MANAGEMENT SCHOOL, BELGIUM

Jorn Janssens is a twenty-two year old student at the Antwerp management school, currently pursuing a masters degree in Human Resource Management. He is holder of both a bachelor's and master's degree in Applied Economics at the University of Antwerp. Here he opted for specialisation in Economic Policy. During his academic career at the University of Antwerp his research and course assignment were mainly focused on the global economic crisis. From 2007 and onwards topics varied from the future of finance and the misalignment in banker's pay to a comparison between western countries reactions in the form of fiscal stimulus. 

He is convinced that the westerns economies are at a crossroads and need new vision and paradigms to build upon and create a stable, sustainable economic system. In order to do this, human capital will prove to be the most vital asset westerns countries possess, immediately explaining his choice for Human Resource Management. His main interests are focused around (macro)economics, financial markets and behavioural economics.

During his master's degree at the University of Antwerp he was an active member of the education commission. Furthermore he contributed to a study performed by Hay Group, an American consultancy, about the HR topic "How to attract and retain top talent". Additionally he was founder and general manager of a business-to-business miniature enterprise. Today he is a member of the student council of the Antwerp Management School.

TEE PRUITT(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PRESIDENT, MBA STUDENT ASSOCIATION, ESADE SPAIN

Tee Pruitt is currently a second year MBA student at ESADE Business School in Barcelona, where he is serving as the MBA Student Association (MBASA) President.  Since assuming office in January 2010, Pruitt has led MBASA's resurgence and subsequent refocus on driving career impact through student activities.  Under his leadership, ESADE was awarded the hosting of the 2011 Graduate Business Conference, which features the Student Association Presidents of the world's top 50 business schools. Before attending ESADE, Tee spent two years managing a small North American investment fund that he co-founded. 

Prior to launching this venture, Pruitt spent five years in management consulting, advising Fortune 500 firms, state and local governments, and the United States Department of Defense in the areas of strategy, marketing, and financial services.

Tee graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. As an undergraduate, he was twice elected by the student body to be the Carolina Athletic Association President, acting as the chief student representative to the university athletic department. Outside of professional interests, Tee is enthusiastic about social media, playing sports, and spending time with people who share a fun sense of humor.

JOERG KOHLBACHER(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE, VLERIKCK LEUVEN GENT MANAGEMENT SCHOOL, BELGIUM

Jörg Kohlbacher started his international full-time MBA at Vlerick Leuven Gent Management School in September 2010. As one of the Student Representatives, he is a spokesman of the current MBA class.

Prior to his MBA studies he worked for a large

German Bank, mainly in Luxembourg but also in Germany, Belgium and Hong Kong. He is a Certified Credit Analyst (CCrA) and has a broad credit risk management background, covering large European multinationals as well as public finance and specialized lending.

Beyond his professional interests, Jörg is passionate about mountains and their special atmosphere. He likes to hike, mountainbike or snowboard in the mountains. He also enjoys travelling around the world to experience new countries and their cultures.

DAVID OSBORNE(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

EDITOR OF THE SCHUMPETER MAGAZINE AND PRESIDENT OF CITY UNIVERSITY TENNIS CLUB, UK 

David Osborne, an economics student at City University, London has always lead an active life of leadership. Throughout primary and secondary school he was elected as class monitor for at least one term every year, culminating in being elected as a deputy head boy in secondary school and appointed prefect, and member of the school council in Sixth Form. The transition to University has not hindered this. He set up the Catholic Society in his first year at University, and joined the Economics Society, launching "The Schumpeter: City University's Economics Magazine".  The following year, he took over editorship of The Schumpeter and retains it to this day.  He recently completed an Erasmus semester in Barcelona at the Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona.  

David is a lover of languages, and besides his native English tongue, speaks both French and Spanish to a high standard.  He plays tennis, and is president of the City University Tennis Club.  David is a lover of the arts, and enjoys listening to a variety of music, and also enjoys playing instruments such as the organ, piano, guitar and the steel pans. In future, David is interested in using the skills acquired as editor of The Schumpeter, in conjunction with his education in economics to get into economic journalism, or the financial markets.

MOON FATEMA JERIN(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

CO-FOUNDER AND PRESIDENT OF IEEE - WOMEN IN ENGINEERING CHAPTER, UNIVERSITY OF WINDSOR, CANADA

Currently pursuing a Civil and Envirnomental Engineering degree at the University of Windsor, Moon Fatema Jerin, is a firm believer that compassion is the only way to resolve problems in the world.  Her goal in life is to never stop growing, always be compassionate, be grounded and help the under- privileged people in the world with her analytical skills and business mind.  She believes that Women should have more access and fair treatment in Engineering, technology and innovation. She was the co-founder and President of IEEE-Women in Engineering chapter at the University of Windsor. She has been the President of Ontario Public Interest Research Groups and has also served as the Provincial Representative for OPIRG Canada. As a part of this group she learned a great deal of social justice issues such as women rights, animal rights, racism and also various environmental issues.  She has also been the Director of Corporate development at the AIESEC Windsor and was the Vice president of Fundraising for the AIESEC Ontario Regional Conference. AIESEC is the world's largest student-run organization. Moon has also served on the board of Engineers without Borders as a Vice president of Finance. 

Beside all the volunteer activities, Moon also held the position of the Student Groups Coordinator for the University of Windsor student Alliance. She worked as a research engineer for Union Gas-EnerSmart to reduce energy in the industry.  She has worked as a research assistant for Dr.Niahar Biswas, Dr. Ram Balachandar, Dr. Rupp Carrivue and Dr. Hannah Maoh. She is a competent leader of Toastmasters International and currently working on her Competent Communicator designation.  Currently she is working towards Golden Future Project so she can go to South Africa in April 2011 to help HIV/AIDS patients and under privileged citizens of South Africa. She believes in Organic, locally-made and sustainable purchases. She has done over 200 hours of volunteering with Ten Thousand Villages, an organization which helps people from third-world countries to get competitive wages and helps to reduce poverty.  Moon is a Yogi and she loves to meditate.

LUC SMETS(International Student Senate 2010-2011)

PRESIDENT, STUDENT GOVERNMENT MBA SOLVAY, BELGIUM

Luc Smets graduated in mechanical-electrical engineering, both from Mechelen High School (KIH De Nayer - today Lessius Mechelen) - and from Brussels University (VUB). He completed a Post-graduate Business Administration (at Leuven University) during his Belgian military service. Luc has worked for the ExxonMobil organization for 20 years in many different positions and locations within BNL, including several assignments. While he was head of the Safety department and Legal Safety Advisor at the Antwerp refinery, he graduated as Safety Engineer (level I) from Antwerp University (UIA). Today Luc is a Mechanical & Engineering Manager (Director) at ExxonMobil Chemicals Films Virton manufacturing site, where he leads over 75 employees and on average 20 contractors.

Beyond his professional career Luc is a second year part-time MBA student at Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management. Luc has been student representative during the two years of his safety engineering course in Antwerp, Academic representative during his first year MBA, and today President of the Student Government during his second year MBA. The Student Government counts around thirty elected student representatives of the three cohorts (full time and two years part-time). Luc is always looking for challenges and stretch. He is an international marathon runner (New-York, Boston, Berlin) & ultra-runner. He is a member of the MMC (Managers Marathon Club).
