The members of the International Student Senate are student leaders coming from top business schools and universities across Europe, who together with business and political leaders, discuss and explore issues which are crucial to Europe's leaders of tomorrow.
DEVELOPMENT TANK
The Senate acts like a development tank for student leaders. The International Student Senate is a unique organ for student leaders to exchange ideas and views and to get to know each other in a one of a kind networking environment. By confronting the student leaders with international thought leaders, such as CEO's, academics and high level politicians, the students will experience an exceptional learning moment.
GOAL
Goal of The International Student Senate is to create a platform for elected student leaders, where they can come together and discuss topics of interest to future leaders.
RULES
The members of The International Student Senate are chosen every year by the Steering Committee. All members are then invited to attend the yearly BREE/SCHILDE Summit in Belgium where student leaders will be paired individually with international thought leaders and CEO's.
HISTORY
The International Student Senate was founded at the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven by then student leader Gert Van Mol at the end of the nineteen eighties. More than 20 years later, in 2007, Mr Van Mol became responsible for the education department of The Wall Street Journal Europe where he introduced and refined the concept of the Student Senate.
The BREE/SCHILDE SUMMIT
The International Student Senate came together during the BREE/SCHILDE SUMMIT (the names of the two Belgian municipalities hosting this event) on November 3 - 5, 2010. The core of the Summit was a group of 47 elected student leaders from top business schools and universities across Europe, who together with business and political leaders, discussed and explored issues which are crucial to Europe's leaders of tomorrow.
